2011 Parade Grand Marshal

In the summer of 1954, the Pecos Valley Rodeo was sponsored by the American Legion Post 70. This was the first year that tickets would be sold to determine the winner of the Rodeo Queen competition.

Fresh out of high school, Eva Vigil (Lucero) was asked by a member to participate. Of the 4 candidates, Eva sold the most tickets and came in first place to become the Pecos Rodeo Queen for that year. She also entered the barrel racing contest and won second place!

Growing up, Eva's family maintained the western lifestyle, living on a homestead and raising cattle. Eva recalls the rodeo events in the 1950s and says they are very similar to today's rodeos. Many members of her family have participated in the rodeos in Pecos over the years, as parade participants and rodeo participant including her son and grandson who bravely rode bulls in the 1990s.

Eva Lucero is honored to serve as the Grand Marshall of the 2011 Pecos Valley Rodeo parade.

Parade Awards:

$100 to 1st Place float.
$50 to 2nd Place float.
$25 to 3rd Place float.

Parade line up is at the Pecos High School from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM.

A PA system and announcer will be set up at Town & Country Store during the parade. The announcer will give a description of each float.
